Date Hour ID Note
Fri 09/Dec/05 --:-- FS System left in STANDBY the previous day is still OK. Line 1 locked, lines from 2 to 8 closed, lines 9 and 10 open. At the beginning m~30.2 kg.
^ 11:10 FS RUN (some warning, like vapours return P<1.45b, soon disappear)
^ 11:20 FS STANDBY (need to find a cable for dummies' power supply)
^ 12:05 FS RUN
^ 12:10 FS Dummies power ON: 36V 10.2A. All looks OK. Beware it takes up to 5 min from RUN setting before the cooling actually starts. An IR camera is very useful in this respect. Never switch ON power before cooling actually sets in the sector (dummies or true).
^ 12:40 FS m=25.3 kg, level control OFF.
^ 13:05 FS m=25.3 kg.
^ 13:15 FS Dummies power OFF. System left in RUN to check the level stability alarm. Left for lunch.
^ 14:00 FS System found in ALARM: liquid level stability +/- 2 kg (23.2 kg)
^ 14:05 FS STANDBY. After few seconds ALARM. Move repeated several time: Reset, STANDBY and always get the same result. Looking carefully one sees that, in the setting of the PLC, moving to STANDBY causes the compressor to start full throttle, thus raising the pressure in the condenser. When that reaches 2.5 b the "warning: booster pressure >2.5 b" sets in and when it reaches 2.6 b the "alarm: booster pressure > 2.6 b" sets in bringing the system in STOP.
^ 15:30 FS Finally the STANDBY succeeds. At same point there is a new ALARM for level stability. Deduced that a sudden increase in mass was probably due to a sudden water inflow.
^ 16:55 FS RUN. Power on the dummies; then checked also sector 0 (line 2 open) with the IR camera. It is checked, beyond any doubt, that evaporation actually takes place within the sector: input temperature 21°C= ambient temperature, output temperature 17-18°C (measured on pipes, with 3M tape.
^ ~17:30 FS STANDBY. Failure: ALARM for deltaM>2kg.
^ 18:30 FS RECOVERY.
^ 21:30 FS m=29.6 kg. STOP.
Wed 14/Dec/05 ~10:00 FS All OK, m=31.4 kg. A test like the day before is performed: RUN, dummies ON, sector line (N 2) open. When we STOP, we find m~15kg!-> RECOVERY: the gas collector is full of liquid: it freezes up to the top.->STANDBY. After lunch we try again RECOVERY: now it is OK.
Thu 15/Dec/06 Afternoon FS The first half stave of sector 0 is powered ON successfully.
